A good way to draw attention to the main subject of your photograph is to find a foreground object to create a frame around it.

The frame helps to:

  • give a sense of depth. A foreground object leads the eye in to the photo.
  • give a sense of place. For example, the frame could be the arm of a street lamp, or the branches of a tree or the opening of a doorway.
